The Concept

The best eyewear for the world

If Robin Wood existed, he would defend nature from its enemies – and do it with style. At Tishler we do something similar. We love nature, people as well as style and art. And we are ready to fight for all this, with our experienced handicraft hands.

Our philosophy does not remain on the surface but cuts into the flesh of the wood. We strive to produce not just the best products in the world but primarily the best products for the world, focusing on the environmental and social effects of our glasses through their entire life-cycle. We work in a respectful way – by respecting nature and all beings.

Respecting nature and all beings

The Product

In this world, sustainability is so valuable that it is never too much. As one of our core values, we implement it already in the initial stages of product design.

Made to last

Your glasses don’t have to show what you’ve been through over the years. We know how to make the scars of the past disappear. The properties of  wood enables us that all of our glasses can be refurbished and repaired.

Amazingly refurbishable

Technology

As digital artisans, combining old craftsmanship and digital technology, we live in two worlds at the same time. In these parallel creative realities, we keep all parts of production – design, prototyping and manufacturing – under one roof, so we can innovate, adapt, maintain strict quality control and remain firmly attached to our values.

The digital stage

Design and cut

The creative process begins with a digital sketch of the frame, which is then transferred to the CNC laser machine that cuts all the parts needed to make the frames.

The analog stage

Glueing

After digitally aided creativity comes the time to use the knowledge of old craftsmen. We hand glue all of the parts with a professional waterproof glue.

Handcrafting

We meticulously sand and polish the frames by hand in order to make them smooth and silky to the touch.

Varnishing

By covering them with a mixture of citrus based oils and waxes we further enrich the colours and protect the wood from environmental effects.

Materials

Matter really matters – that’s why we use only the best components when producing our glasses. But it is not enough to be just the best.  The components must be obtained without harming nature or supporting unfair social relations.

Tishler

The name TISHLER derives from the German word tischler, which means carpenter.

TISHLER is an admirable person who shares a deep respect towards wood. When working he usually uses old mythological german tools starting with the letters “sch”. TISHLER has an incredible ability to estimate the thickness, depth or length of a board with the naked eye or by just touching it. He applies this ability to all other materials and elements of direct reality to create beautiful masterpieces of art.
